The Cello Concerto’s Sister

March 5, 2013

With the same spirit as the cello concerto, yet played on a different instrument, the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s Violin Concerto is equally fantastic.

Here is a classic recording: Isaac Stern and the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy.

  1. Thank you, also thanks for the Dvorak’s Cello Concerto, I love cello for special personal reason, therefore I prefer his Cello Concerto (I shouldn’t compare the two!), its adagio moves me (always), a bit nostalgic, even more when I listened to Jacqueline du Pré’s performance.

I never heard of Dvorak’s op 53, thanks for introducing it.

  2. Reblogged this on Toffee Cakes and commented:
    Another wonderful piece from Dvorak.

Certainly! I was in an orchestra for this a long time ago, and it was a fantastic experience.
